Vaughan Kitchen Renovations — Thornhill, Maple, Woodbridge & Kleinburg

Estate-scale kitchens for Vaughan homeowners — paneled appliance walls, prep kitchens, and Kleinburg-character millwork.

01Kitchens in Vaughan

The local angle.

Vaughan kitchens trend large and ambitious. The 1980s and 1990s estate homes in Thornhill and Maple were built with formal dining rooms and walled-off kitchens; the brief in 2026 is almost always to remove that wall, add a 12-to-16-foot island, and integrate a separate prep kitchen behind the main run. Woodbridge and Kleinburg projects often come with a stronger character mandate — millwork that reads more traditional, materials that match the architecture of the rest of the house.

Vaughan Building Standards runs a thorough permit review. Residential kitchen permits with structural openings typically take 5 to 10 weeks, and Heritage Vaughan involvement on Kleinburg projects adds another 2 to 4 weeks. We submit during construction documentation rather than after, which compresses the overall schedule.

Vaughan pricing in 2026 sits at the upper end of GTA averages, driven by the scope of the kitchens themselves. A mid-range Thornhill kitchen renovation lands $65,000–$130,000, and a fully custom Kleinburg kitchen with prep room, butler's pantry, and full-slab stone often clears $200,000.

Vaughan kitchens reward planning. The houses are large, the cabinetry runs are long, and the appliances specified are unforgiving on tolerance. A Sub-Zero refrigerator column with a side-by-side wine column needs the panel widths and the hinge clearance and the toe-kick alignment all to land within a few millimetres. We hold those tolerances by running the cabinet shop ourselves on most Vaughan projects, which means the sizes coming out of fabrication are the sizes we measured on site.

Most of our Vaughan kitchen projects open the original kitchen to the family room. The structural work is routine — a beam, an engineered drawing, a Vaughan permit, a steel install over a long Saturday. The harder work is what happens around the structural opening: the HVAC trunk that was running above the wall has to find a new path, the dining-room flooring has to extend through the new opening, and the ceiling plane has to read as one continuous space rather than two rooms taped together.

Prep kitchens are increasingly the spec on Vaughan estate-scale projects. A separate room behind the main kitchen with a dishwasher, a second sink, an induction cooktop, and a coffee setup keeps the main kitchen presentable during the kind of entertaining the houses are built for.

We finish to the same standard everywhere we work — soft-close drawers calibrated, hardware seated, paint touched up where the new ceiling line meets the old. Vaughan clients tend to be second-time renovators and they notice the small things. So do we.
